Building Bright Futures: Eddy House’s Impact in 2024

At Eddy House, 2024 was a year of hope, grit, and groundbreaking progress. As youth homelessness continues to rise across the nation, our community-powered nonprofit met the challenge head-on—expanding programs, deepening partnerships, and transforming lives.

This year, we served 544 unique clients—youth ages 18–24 who were experiencing homelessness or at extreme risk of it. Our doors were open every day, providing critical care and a pathway to independence. With over 23,000 visits to our facility, Eddy House was more than just a shelter—it was a hub of healing, empowerment, and opportunity. We are excited to present our full 2024 impact report here, as well as in the brief video narrated by our CEO Trevor Macaluso below.

Program Milestones

1. Transitional Living Community (TLC) Takes Shape
In March, we broke ground on the TLC—a 36-unit affordable studio apartment complex that will soon offer young adults up to two years of stable housing, complete with wraparound support like job training, life skills, and counseling. This marks a monumental step in our vision to end youth homelessness in Northern Nevada.

2. Eddy House Hangout Hits the Road
Our new mobile outreach van is now a regular presence at local high schools. By bringing food, hygiene supplies, and resources directly to students, we’re helping teens stay housed, stay in school, and stay connected before crises escalate.

3. Expanded Emergency Shelter & Residential Living
To meet increased demand, we added 10 new shelter beds for women and reconfigured our residential program to support more young women. Our shelter now accommodates 50 youth nightly, while our Community Living Program houses up to 29 youth for six months at a time.

By the Numbers

  • 61 youth secured employment (avg. wage: $18.09/hr)

  • 6 youth started college

  • 98% of youth in aftercare did not return to shelter within a year of exiting

  • 35,067 meals served

  • 8,250 showers and 2,985 transportation assists provided

  • 347 therapy sessions and 372 life skills classes delivered

Real Impact, Real Stories

In the report, you’ll meet Jacob, a young man with a dream of becoming a mechanic. Through the support of our Workforce Development Manager, Tammy, Jacob enrolled at TMCC, obtained his driver’s license, and is working at a local dealership while continuing his education. His story reflects the resilience and potential of every young person who walks through our doors.

Partnerships Powering Change

2024 proved that collaboration is key. From Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, who now provide daily meals, to UNR Medical School, whose students support outreach to unsheltered youth, our network of allies has grown stronger than ever. And with the generosity of supporters like you, we continue to expand our reach.

Looking Ahead

As CEO Trevor Macaluso shared, “We strive to be the steady, unwavering presence needed to overcome adversity and chart a path forward.” In 2025, Eddy House will build on the foundation we’ve laid—investing further in education, mental health, employment, and housing solutions. But we can’t do it without our community.
