Josh’s Story
Imagine being so cold at night that the only way to stay warm is to run.
Not toward anything—just away from the freezing air, the fear, and the loneliness.
That was Josh’s reality.
Like so many of the youth we serve, Josh found his way to Eddy House through word of mouth. He was homeless. He was scared. And some nights, he would run for hours, just to keep moving and stay warm.
But everything began to change the day he stepped through our doors.
At Eddy House, Josh met people who believed in him. Our case manager saw his self-determination. The workforce manager recognized his potential. And slowly, confidence began to take root.
Josh’s highest motivation wasn’t just survival, it was love.
He wanted to become someone his young daughter could be proud of.
As he began to heal and gain stability, he made the incredibly selfless decision to give custody to a family member who could provide her with the consistent care she deserved. At the same time, he made a promise to himself: to rebuild, to grow, and to one day be in her life again.
Today, Josh has aged out of Eddy House programs—but he hasn’t aged out of our hearts. He still visits. He’s working full-time at Two Men and a Truck. He’s stable.
And he’s proud of the man he’s becoming.
Josh’s story is one of many made possible because of donors like you.
Because of supporters like you, in 2024:
– Over 17,000 safe overnight stays were provided to youth in crisis
– Over 35,000 meals were served to young people facing food insecurity
– Hundreds of hours of therapy and life skills workshops helped youth find healing and hope
And together, we broke ground on our 36-unit Transitional Living Community (TLC) as a major step toward ending youth homelessness in Northern Nevada. The TLC is set to open this summer!
