Eddy House Breaks Ground on Transitional Living Community with March Ceremony

We at Eddy House are thrilled to share an exciting milestone in our journey to end youth homelessness in Northern Nevada. On Tuesday, March 5th, we gathered for the official groundbreaking ceremony of our new 36-unit apartment complex, marking a pivotal moment in our mission to provide vital support to homeless youth in our community.

A Step Forward in Our Mission:

Our new apartment complex will serve as our Transitional Living Community, offering stable housing and support for young adults aged 18-24. This project is part of our $14 million campus expansion, funded through the Home Means Nevada Initiative via the Nevada Housing Division and two local foundations.

Supporting Youth on Their Journey:

We believe that every young person deserves a chance at a brighter future, and the Transitional Living Community is a crucial step in providing them with the support they need to succeed. With two years in a stable and safe environment, youth will have the opportunity to continue learning and growing while also building their earning capacity and financial stability.

Gratitude to Our Partners and Supporters:

We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners and supporters who have made this groundbreaking ceremony possible. Tolles Development Company, a Reno-based commercial real estate company, provided pro bono development and project management services, with Cory Hunt, Partner at Tolles and Eddy House Board Member, leading the charge since 2022.

In addition, we’re incredibly grateful for the contributions of CWX Architects and Pinecrest Construction. Their expertise and dedication have been invaluable in bringing our vision for the Transitional Living Community to life.

We also want to thank Stan Can Design for creating our new brand and launching it at the ceremony, as well as Doughboys Donuts and Tandem Chocolates for providing sweet treats to our guests.

Looking Ahead:

The new building, slated to be completed in Spring of 2025, will feature studio-style apartment living with essential amenities like kitchenettes, in-unit laundry, and offices for our on-site support staff. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and are committed to providing comprehensive support for homeless youth in our community.

Making a Difference Together:

In 2023, we served 511 young individuals, provided over 2,800 transport assistance, and offered more than 16,000 bed nights. We also provided more than a thousand counseling sessions and served nearly 32,000 meals. Together with our partners and supporters, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of homeless youth, empowering them to build a brighter future.

The groundbreaking ceremony for our new Transitional Living Community marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to end youth homelessness in Northern Nevada. With the support of our partners and supporters, we are creating real change and providing essential resources to young adults in need.
