New volunteers will need to complete an orientation, brief training, tour, and occasionally background screening depending on the role.

Clothing Closet

Help organize and maintain our clothing closet, creating a welcoming space where youth can shop with dignity and choose outfits that reflect their personal style.

Supply Closet & Facility Support

Support day-to-day operations by organizing supplies, taking inventory, restocking items, and helping maintain a clean, functional space.

Organize Donations

Sort and distribute incoming donations to the appropriate areas, helping ensure that resources are accessible and ready for use.

Meals

Provide nourishment and care by preparing or serving breakfast, lunch, or dinner to our youth.

Events

Represent Eddy House and support youth-focused initiatives by lending a hand during community tabling events and special programs.

Client Services

Support young people on their journey to independence by offering mentorship, life skills coaching, or leading group sessions focused on growth, healing, or personal development.

Yard Clean Up

Help keep the grounds of our facilities clean and inviting. Foster a safe, welcoming environment our youth can take pride in.

Group Opportunities

We welcome group volunteering—whether you’re a corporate team, school club, employee engagement group, or community organization. To ensure a meaningful experience for everyone, please contact us in advance to coordinate scheduling, group size, and available projects by emailing [email protected].

Volunteer Guidelines

We’re grateful for your interest in supporting Eddy House! People of all abilities are welcome to volunteer, and we will do our best to provide accommodations when needed. Please review the following guidelines to help us maintain a safe, respectful, and productive environment.

Join Us As a Volunteer

Dress Code

Volunteers will need to be in work-appropriate, comfortable attire that you would not mind getting dirty. The following would be considered not appropriate for our organization’s standards: Spandex, bare feet, sexually provocative clothing, clothing with profanity, the observable lack of undergarments and exposed undergarments. Supervisors have the discretion to determine appropriateness of appearance. Volunteers who do not present appropriate standards will be asked to leave.

Language

Please be mindful of your language while in the facility. We do not tolerate swearing or disrespectful comments. We want to have a clean language environment as we have donors, children, and clients around constantly. Please be mindful of your language and the way your attitude may be perceived. We will need positive attitudes from our volunteers. If there are any vulgar, hostile, or disrespectful remarks being made to any client, staff, or other volunteer, you will be asked to leave.

Facility Rules

We do not allow smoking of any kind or consumption of alcohol or drugs anywhere on facility grounds. This includes the parking lot. If we see this rule being broken, or if you are visibly impaired, we will ask you to leave.

Working in the Facility

We ask that all volunteers stay on task. If you have a phone call, please step outside to take it. Our staff are very busy, and we do not have time to watch over our clients and volunteers. If you are having trouble completing your work for whatever reason, please inform a staff member. If a staff member sees you not on-task and causing more work, you will be asked to leave.

Age Requirement

If you are under the age of 18, an adult must accompany you when you volunteer in any capacity with us. Both the minor and adult will need to fill out applications and fill out all necessary forms. If you have any questions or concerns about this rule, please reach out to the volunteer coordinator.

Working with the Clients

Working with our clients is a very rewarding opportunity. However, please do not engage in asking personal questions about them or divulging too much about yourself. This includes offering them rides, taking photos of them, offering them money or gifts, or reaching out to them outside of the facility. We do not tolerate individuals breaking our confidentiality policy. You will be asked to leave if any staff member sees you breaking this rule. Our clients come here for a safe space to be, please do not compromise that. Upon entry, there will be a confidentiality policy that every volunteer must sign. If you do not sign, you will not be able to volunteer in any capacity.

Driving Donations

If you are asked to drop off items to re-donate and feel comfortable doing so (you may opt out of this request), you will need to have a valid driver’s license. Volunteers who drop off donations will also need to log and show that they dropped off the items at the specified place to ensure no donations are kept or lost on the way.

*Service/School Requirements

If you are volunteering for school requirements, please be advised we cannot guarantee we can fill all your hours. If you need a letter stating you completed your work, please reach out to the volunteer coordinator with the letter requirements before applying. This will help the coordinator know if we can fulfil the requirements or not before we schedule you.

*Past/current clients

If you are currently using our organization’s resources, you will be unable to volunteer for Eddy House. If you are a past client of ours, you will have to wait 2 years after receiving our services and be over the age of 25.
