Work and Life Skills: Tools for Independence

At Eddy House, we believe that long-term stability comes from more than just meeting basic needs, it comes from equipping the young people in our community with the necessary skills, confidence, and resources to build meaningful, independent lives.

Personalized Support Every Step of the Way

Each youth at Eddy House is paired with a dedicated Case Manager who assists with navigating everything from daily routines to long-term planning. Case Managers advocate for the youth, provide encouragement, and hold them accountable to their individualized goals.

Support may include:

  • Obtaining IDs, birth certificates, and Social Security cards
  • Reconnecting with supportive family members
  • Navigating legal or medical systems
  • Applying for housing or education
  • Keeping up with personal hygiene and routines

Case Managers also coordinate with our clinical and workforce teams in order to ensure every youth gets the care and opportunities they need. You can reach a Case Manager by calling the general phone line, (775) 686-6244, or by emailing [email protected].

Healing Through Connection

Youth experiencing homelessness often carry the heavy weight of trauma, abuse, mental health challenges, or substance use. At Eddy House, we provide immediate, no-cost access to licensed therapy and crisis support through our on-site Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and supervised interns.

Services include:

  • Individual therapy sessions
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Referrals to inpatient treatment, behavioral health services, and specialized care

In 2024 alone we provided nearly 400 therapy sessions, allowing us to help the youth in our community begin their healing journey in a safe and supportive environment.

To get in touch with a Mental Health Provider, either call the general phone number (775) 686-6244 or email [email protected].

Building Pathways to Purpose

Through our Workforce Development Program, youth are supported in defining their long-term career goals and taking tangible steps toward employment or continued education. Each client receives one-on-one guidance from our Workforce Development Team, who helps with:

  • School enrollment and GED attainment
  • Resume writing and job search strategies
  • Interview preparation and soft skills coaching
  • Submitting applications
  • Obtaining certifications

We eliminate common employment barriers by providing:

  • Tuition assistance and training certifications
  • Transportation and driver’s license support
  • Work tools, shoes, and professional attire
  • On-site job fairs and mock interviews with employer partners

Thanks to generous community support, we have been able to assist local youth in forging sustainable careers through key steps such as securing education, landing jobs, and even earning their driver’s licenses.

At Eddy House, work and life skills programming transforms survival into self-sufficiency. With personalized support, trusted mentors, and access to real-world opportunities, we are able to help youth not only imagine a better future but also achieve it.
