Eddy House is the only dedicated provider for at-risk and homeless youth ages 18 to 24 in Northern Nevada. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation.

Getting to Eddy House

Eddy House does not provide transportation to our Drop-In Resource Center and Emergency Shelter, but our location is within walking distance of public transportation.

Getting to Eddy House by Bus

Eddy House is accessible by public transportation through RTC Ride in Reno and is within walking distance of several bus stops.

  1. The closest RTC Ride bus stop to Eddy House is E. 6th Street and Evans Avenue, which is a short walk from our location at 888 Willow Street, Reno, NV. Another nearby option is the Lake Street and E. 6th Street stop.
  2. Visit rtcwashoe.com or use Google Maps and select the transit option.
  3. Enter your starting location and search for directions to Eddy House, Reno, NV.
  4. Follow the suggested bus route and get off at E. 6th Street and Evans Avenue or another nearby stop.
  5. Walk from the bus stop to Eddy House.

Getting to Eddy House by Train

Eddy House is accessible by train via Amtrak service to downtown Reno.

  1. Book a ticket to Reno Amtrak Station.
  2. Exit the station and plan your trip to Eddy House using public transportation, a rideshare service, or a short walk, depending on your location and ability.
  3. If taking the bus, use RTC Ride or Google Maps with the transit option to find the best route from the station to Eddy House.
  4. Follow the directions to arrive at Eddy House.

General

Are you open all the time?

Yes. Eddy House is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

 

Who can get services at Eddy House?

We serve young people ages 18 to 24.

 

Is Eddy House a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth?

Yes. Eddy House is a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ youth.

 

Do you support pregnant youth or young families?

We provide referrals and support for pregnant youth and their babies. Babies are not able to stay overnight at Eddy House.

 

What does “client” mean?

A client is anyone using any service or resource at Eddy House, including drop-in services, case management, housing support, or overnight shelter.

What to Bring

What can I bring with me?

You may bring:

  • One suitcase and one duffle bag for storage
  • Personal belongings that fit within this limit

Day-use lockers are available.

 

What items are not allowed?

The following items are not permitted:

  • Stuffed animals
  • Blankets or pillows
  • Substances
  • Weapons
Entry Requirements and Limitations

Are there barriers to entry?

Some limitations apply:

  • You must be able to complete activities of daily living independently
  • No pets
  • No babies
  • Certain medical discharge paperwork may be required

If you are unsure, staff can talk with you about your situation.

Meals

When are meals served?

You can arrive anytime during the meal hour.

  • Breakfast: 8:30 to 9:30 am
  • Lunch: 12:00 to 1:00 pm
  • Dinner: 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Sleeping and Overnight Stay

Are beds guaranteed?

No. Beds are first come-first serve.

 

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Sleeping areas include:

  • Nonbinary room, 10 beds
  • Male room, 40 beds
  • Female room, 10 beds

 

What time do I need to arrive?

  • Established clients must arrive by 9:00 pm
  • New clients can arrive at any time

 

What time is wake-up?

Wake-up is between 7:30 and 7:45 am. Earlier wake-ups can be requested if needed.

 

Can sleeping arrangements be adjusted for work or school?

Yes. We can accommodate work and school schedules when possible.

First-Time Visits

What happens on my first visit?

On your first visit, you will:

  • Complete an intake packet
  • Receive a tour of the building
  • Review rules with a youth advocate
  • Be assigned a case manager based on your last name
  • Be asked if you need food, a shower, or other support
  • Be shown where to pick up linens and where to sleep
Programs and Support

What services are available?

Our goal is to help clients move toward transitional or longer-term housing.

Services may include:

  • Drop-in support and resource connection
  • Case management and case planning
  • Workforce development support
  • Therapy, if included in your case plan

Meeting with case management is always required to create a case plan.

 

When are services available?

Case management, therapy, and workforce services are available:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

What about programming?

Client programming runs Monday through Thursday.

Monday Rule Refresh is held at 10:00 am and is mandatory.

 

Laundry

Can I do laundry?

Yes. Laundry vouchers are available every day at Champion Laundry on Wells.

 

Is transportation provided?

Laundry transportation is available every other Tuesday.
